For work today, I wore this two-tone BCBGMAXAZRIA skirt with a J. Crew long-sleeve tee and BCBGMAXAZRIA flats. The skirt is one of the most flattering things a petite woman could buy, because the tight, high waist heightens and slims. As you can see from the closeup, the waist is elastic, making the skirt very comfortable for something so fitted. As I've written before, the flats are fun and ornate, but versatile because they are entirely black.

Because the palette consists of only black and navy, I went with slightly exaggerated jewelry. I chose this great Kate Spade necklace and a_line "Pyar" watch, purchased at Beyondtherack.com. I love the classic, unisex look of the watch, and I think the black/gold combination is classic. This week I tried out the very-trendy opaque white nail polish (Joe Fresh's "Vanilla"), which I particularly liked with this outfit!

For work yesterday, I wore a Rosegold charcoal turtleneck, skinny jeans from Forever 21, a faux fur vest from Joe Fresh and wedge sneakers from Strawberry. I stuck with my three-color rule, thinking that the charcoal/black combination on top would perfectly balance the colorful jeans. The cropped vest makes my torso appear longer. The sneakers add the perfect amount of height, and I love their edgy look. Initially, I was verrrry on the fence about wedge sneakers, but I'm glad I decided to get them! They can be dressed up or down, and it's always great to find a heeled shoe that's actually comfortable.

To finish the look, I went with a simple strand of pearls. I really liked the contrast of the classic, refined pearls with the edgy sneakers and fur vest.

Fabulous footnotes:

* Strawberry has a great shoe selection, if you want to buy something trendy without spending too much money. They also have some high-end selections, like these Vince Camuto wedge sneakers.

For work today, I wore this royal blue Kate Spade Kolette skirt with a Rosegold silk tank top (purchased from Gilt), Cynthia Rowley tights, Tory Burch Reva flats, and a cream-colored cardigan from Crewcuts. I wanted to stick with three colors, and I figured a white/black/blue combination would be fun without being too much. With the large bow on the skirt and the patterned tights, there's just enough detail in this outfit for work. The skirt sits above the waist, but is short enough not to throw off my proportions. I went with simple, refined gold jewelry  - just a necklace and my favorite Kate Spade Monterey Bay stud earrings.

For work yesterday, I wore this Aqua jacket with a J. Crew long-sleeve tee, Rich & Skinny bootcut jeans and Aldo's Poston pump in fuchsia. I purchased the jacket several years ago from the girls department at Bloomingdale's...it was a great find! It fits snugly without being tight, and the length is perfect. As usual, I cuffed the jeans under to make them the right length. Rich & Skinny's jeans are very soft and comfortable, so grab a pair for work if you can! The shoes are comfortable as well. As you can see, the heel is relatively small.

To finish the look, I wore these spike bracelets from Aldo with my black and white chain link bracelet from J. Crew. For earrings, I wore my classic Tiffany knot studs.

Fab footnotes:

* A similar pair of Rich & Skinny boot cut jeans can be found here. I also see a lot of Rich & Skinny jeans at places like T.J.Maxx for great prices.

* As I've mentioned before, Aqua is a great, chic label with reasonable prices. Browse their selection at Bloomingdale's here.
